Ashanti Morgan has been a thought leader in the Learning and Development (L&D) space for nearly 20 years in a variety of sectors ranging from public to private. Her unique perspective, having touched nearly all industries, equips her with the ability to approach L&D strategy and learning design innovatively. Over the last decade, she’s developed and honed her niched expertise in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) arena supporting her passion for the betterment of all people. 

Ashanti started AKM Global Consulting LLC to offer services to organizations in need of L&D and DE&I strategy, training architect, and facilitation support. Clients range from U.S. government agencies to global Fortune 500 corporations.

Ashanti served as a thought leader committed to building and sustaining a culture of belonging and inclusion at Levi Strauss & Co. She was the Director of L&D and Talent Management focused on DE&I efforts enterprise-wide.  Her responsibilities included building and implementing high-impact, globally integrated DE&I and learning & talent strategy impacting retention, talent acquisition, employee experience & engagement, and culture.

 

Ashanti had an impactful tenure as Senior Manager, Global Learning & Development at The Kellogg Company. In this role, she led the end-to-end global Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) learning strategy, roadmap, and change management design, development, and execution enterprise-wide.  In her short tenure, she created and disseminated real-world learning solutions and experiences, established inclusive behaviors, and leveraged KPI data to track adoption and milestone moments that equated to systemic change throughout the organization. 

 

Prior to joining The Kellogg Company, Ashanti spent nearly three years at Hyatt Hotels Corporate office. In her initial position, she managed the Global L&D teams’ strategic initiatives and ultimately, global D&I learning. In her final role, she worked alongside the VP of D&I and was charged with managing data analytics, L&D strategy, collaborating with the Executive Leadership Committee, and advised and supported HR leaders with global DE&I initiatives to sustain a globally diverse workforce.

Ashanti held various senior-level roles in academic & non-profit institutions including DePaul University, Chicago Public Schools, and Learning Point Associates -- now American Institutes for Research, respectively. 

 

Ashanti served as the Online Learning Program Chair/DE&I Volunteer on the Board of Directors for Chicago SHRM and volunteered at YearUp to support Opportunity Youth.  She is passionate about engaging mission-driven, community-based organizations that support DE&I, and shares her expertise through consultation and/or volunteerism.

Ashanti earned her master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University. She also obtained her bachelor’s degree in Organizational & Corporate Communication from Northern Illinois University. She is a recent fellow of The University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and the Chicago Urban League’s IMPACT Leadership Program.

 

In her downtime, Ashanti enjoys cooking, reading, and whenever possible, traveling with her husband and three children.
